Ears Dot Cafe is a free service for streaming music. Ears Dot Cafe is a “six disc changer” and you can listen to one “disc” at a time or shuffle them. Listenable “discs” change monthly, and album details are archived with suggestions of where else to listen, if possible. Ears Dot Cafe is an educational endeavor and if any rights holder wants their material removed, we are happy to comply, but even happier to arrange a way to share your music free for one month. Ears Dot Cafe emphasizes music that is hard to find or not on other services, the “discs” plumb the depths of a 30 year CD and MP3 collection and many of the files are compressed strangely (never below 192kbps when possible) and/or ripped from compromised physical media. Ears Dot Cafe believes in “textualterity” and all copies are valid.

BEST PRACTICES FOR MOBILE PLAYBACK:
Because ears.cafe is a renegade and truly progressive progressive web app, your phone may deprioritize its RAM. While a computer’s browser will run it without issue, mobile OS are stingier without proprietary app store permissions to skip use lines. Ears will be free forever so those permissions are not in our budget and the app store is for herbs.
If playback is sticky from your lockscreen (i.e. having to reopen the app to restart or continue music), quit the other apps open on your phone. This will free up the small amount of memory the ears player needs. Adding the PWA to your home screen (instructions on the main page) helps too. We recommend both. Think of this feature like bricking your phone from all those apps that waste your precious attention and make you feel bad about yourself, which we would never do.
